UDC Student re-elected in ANC race

Abstract:
Like most UDC students, India Henderson is a working adult. Both a junior and Biology major, her schedule can be hectic. However, India has another duty that makes her unique to many young women her age. Endowed with not only brains and beauty, the twenty-one year old also has heart-for her community....

Thank you for a well written story. I am particularly proud of India for answering the call to serve our neighbors and our city as an elected official. It is important for young adults to obtain a college education and to become good stewards of our city too. I appreciate India for doing both and I am pleased she is my Commissioner.

Sincerely,

Kathy Henderson

The only thing that surprises me about this young lady is her age. You would NEVER think she's 21 by the way she conducts herself. I live just a few blocks from her so I see her from time to time. I've seen her on campus occasionally also. I've always noticed her demeanor when I see her commuting from school or work when we catch the bus at the same time. She's always polite, CLASSY, respectful, and all around a gem just off of site alone.

I realized she was a special woman the first day I saw her. I notice clearly that she wasn't like the rest of the women in that neighborhood. She engaged people through her conversation with strong eye contact. To me...that shows confidence. That goes a long way with me. She doesn't socialize with the "riff raff" in that area but has the ability to converse with people from all different background (from what I saw thus far).

I expect major acheivements from this young lady in the future.

Its good to see a fellow classmate with their sleeves rolled up and getting dirty down in the trenches. It takes a lot of heart and bravery to do this job well. I wish you nothing but continued success in your mission to make the community a better place for all.
